The Unspoken Question

Connecting online through email, social media & Jet Venue!

It has been nearly three months since I relaunched Jet Venue, taking a parked domain and breathing new life into it.  Since March, I have reconnected with many people I’ve known down through the years and have crossed paths with a handful of crewmembers who are new to business aviation.

Through emails, phone calls and, yes, Facebook, I have touched base with lots of people though I must say that there are a significant number of professionals who are nowhere to be found. It seems lots of business aviation folks have abandoned the industry in the face of an unprecedented downturn. I’ve heard from some that they have moved on out of necessity; their very survival depends on them finding a living far removed from the airport tarmac.

The Question

But I know that there is one unspoken question that some of you may have wanted to ask me and it goes something like this: are you sorry you started Jet Venue? That answer may surprise you: No, I’m not sorry. In fact, if Jet Venue helps just one person I will have considered what I’m trying to do here to be a success.

Mind you, traffic on the forums is virtually non-existent with the occasional post started but with few, if any, responses. This pales in comparison to the original Corporate Flight Attendant Community I launched in August 2002 on MSN Groups and later moved to its own domain. Back then, business aviation was fast recovering from the 9/11 terrorist attacks, with companies expanding to keep up with demand for private aviation travel.

For most of the 2000s, the airlines were struggling mightily while people of means found that business aviation offered to them the convenience, comfort and access they needed. First class on the airlines certainly didn’t satisfy them with new security rules playing a profound impact on their ability to move about freely.

Moving Forward

So here’s where I’m going with Jet Venue: I plan on keeping this site operational indefinitely and will add new material from time to time. I don’t feel any pressure to help make things happen; what will be will be.

Some of the articles posted here are provided by guests, people who may also have an idea or product for your consideration. I’m also trying to broaden the appeal of Jet Venue and will work to bring in pilots, maintenance technicians and other business aviation professionals over the coming months.

I also encourage you that if you’re looking for fresh exposure to add your resume to the Corporate Flight Attendant Resumes subforum. Once I find your information there, I’ll post a link from the sidebar under Cabin Crew Resumes to help you get noticed. No charge for this service; I want to do what I can to help you out.

Other than that, I’ll continue to network and follow what is going on in business aviation. Clearly, there is room for much positive movement in this industry, something that may take many months perhaps years to become clearly evident. In any case, I want to be around as things improve and together we may see and enjoy brighter days for an industry we’re passionate about.
